Why we exist
Every summer, Southern Maryland gets a storm that knocks the power out. Sometimes it's an hour. Sometimes — like the 2012 derecho — it's days. And every time, the same thing happens: the houses with standby generators hum along like nothing happened, and everyone else starts calculating how long the food in the fridge will last.
We started Waldorf Standby Generators because backup power shouldn't be a mystery purchase. Too many homeowners get a generator quote they don't understand, for a size nobody explained, from someone who disappears after installation day. We do it differently: real load calculations, plain-language quotes, and service after the sale.
How we work
We size before we sell. Every quote starts with a load calculation — what your home actually draws, not a rule of thumb. The right size runs everything you need without wasting fuel or money on capacity you'll never use.
We explain everything. Transfer switch, pad, fuel line, panel capacity — you'll understand what each part does and why it's in your quote. If you don't need something, we won't sell it to you.
We stay after installation. A generator needs annual maintenance to be ready when it counts. We offer maintenance plans, and we service and repair the units we install — and plenty we didn't.
